Download Talk Of The Town on Bandcamp
I’ve shared some Sore Losers and KillaMC with you in the past and here comes another hard hitter from the Brain Gang, Tunk. Knowing the quality of most local artists I’ll admit I was skeptical as I downloaded the mixtape and prepared to listen to it for the first time, but any feeling of skepticism should have been wiped away by Tunk’s inclusion in the Brain Gang. That group is not capable of doing anything wrong.

Tunk – Intro
After unzipping Talk Of The Town and importing it to iTunes I hit play and started with the first track, the intro. At this point I’m already warming up. Delivery is great and production is solid, but there isn’t much going on yet. It is just the intro after all.

Tunk – This Is Me
Here comes “This Is Me,” the second track out of the 16 included on Talk Of The Town. All I needed to hear was the minute from 1:15 to 2:15 and I was sold. Although “This Is Me” isn’t my favorite track on the album, that is unarguably the best minute of hip hop on the mixtape and maybe even the best minute of hip hop the year is going to see.
Talk Of The Town continues showing strength through the remaining 14 tracks on the mixtape and is sprinkled with the familiar voices of Vincent Brown from Sore Losers and ThatKidThuro as well as some phone-in feedback from Tunk’s God Mom. The inclusion of feedback or skits on albums has been really hit or miss in the past, but I rarely find myself skipping the two feedback tracks since I can’t help but smile out of her show of support and opinions on the mixtape.
My top three tracks off of this mixtape are “Got Me Trippin’,” “You Don’t Work, You Don’t Eat,” and “Talk Of The Town.” The only way you’re going to get to listen to those is to go to Tunk’s bandcamp and listen or download the album there. You’ll want to do the latter, I’ve been listening to this mixtape every day for over a week.
